Cassie Crisano vs. Shanie Rusth DRAMA: (135 lbs fight)
from Jeff McConnell
Got an update on the drama at Battle of the Spartans IV from the awesome people at MMA CAGE NIGHT. (thanks to Leanna & Will a.k.a. “Team Meiser” for the info/updates)
Here’s is what I have been told went down between Cassie Crisano and Shanie Rusth (and her boyfriend, TUF 9 competitor Frankie Lester) at the weigh-ins held on Friday 11/30/12:
“Cassie Crisano v Shanie
Rusth drama: (135 lbs fight)
Weigh-ins were 8pm on 11/30. Crisano (out of Baltimore) knew she was 5lbs over weight. On 11/30 she called VA fight officials and disclosed she was +5lbs. VA officials approached Rusth’s camp with the news and Shanie agreed to still fight as long as Crisano was 140.0 lbs. (VA officials also agreed) At 10:00pm Crisano is still a no-show at weigh-ins. At 10:30pm Crisano arrives, and weighs in at 143, (a total of 8lbs over the original agreed upon weight) so officials call off the fight. Rusth then starts a word battle with Crisano then escalating, and Rusth ends up spitting on Crisano. Crisano’s camp then lunges toward Rusth, inciting Frankie Lester (Rusth boyfriend) to punch Crisano in the face. Lester then punches Crisano’s boyfriend before Rusth and Lester flee the scene.”
As you can read a CRAZY night of events in Virginia. From what I have heard, other than this drama, the event was very exciting & it’s sad this incident will probably be what people remember about this event instead of the amazing night of fights in the cage.
I’ll have more on the results of the SANCTIONED fighting that went on in the cage later on over at my MMA blog. I just wanted to pass this info update along & say THANK YOU to Leanna & Will for contacting me about what went down – you guys are AWESOME!
I don’t care who you are, you never ever, put your hands on a women or punch them, its not right and hope the person gets in trouble with the law, the pen is always mightier than the sword.
