Exclusive: Interview with Charmaine Tweet Looking For Her Debut at InvictaFC 7
Charmaine Tweet who ranks 5th in the world mma rankings has been quiet since her last fight and win against Amanda Bell in Canada. According to Tweet she looking forward to make her debut on the next InvictaFC 7 card but has yet to receive any information on who she might fight on that and explains to SportsGeeks in this recent interview.
SGS: Hello, “Charmaine” How are you doing today?
CharTweet: I’m doing great, have a rare night off from the gym tonight . Still going to squeeze in a 45 min run and some bag work here at home 🙂
SGS: You are looking for a fight? Are you still doing a training camp right now?
CharTweet: I am looking for a fight … I have been getting ready for when the call comes from Invicta FC. My management has been talking with them over the past few months and I am hoping to be making my debut on Invicta 7 in Dec. I am currently in the 1 st week of my official training camp.
SGS: When you prepare for an upcoming fight are you the type of fighter that prepares for the fighter that is front of you? Or do you have some other game plan in mind to prepare for your fight?
CharTweet: For the most part I train the aspects of what my coaches and myself feel I need to work on. I don’t necessarily train for specific opponent as much as I try to improve my overall game. That being said of course we do add certain things to the fight plan as we get closer to a specific fight and opponent.
SGS: Since your last fight what have been doing?
CharTweet: Since my last fight, I have continued to work on my BJJ & Wrestling, and since its football season… I have been in my favourite role as football mom to my youngest son :). On top of that my oldest has now got his license, so driving with him and helping him has taken up a lot of my summer to lol.
SGS: Ok I see that people ask you questions about Cyborg in the past, tell us what you really think of Cyborg? Is she beatable?
CharTweet: I respect Cris and all she has accomplished , but she is beatable. She seems to win her matches before she gets in the cage…. what I’m saying is the image of “Cyborg” far out ways the reality of the actual fighter. She gets in her opponents heads and had them beat long before fight night.
SGS: How many weeks do you as a fighter need to prepare for a fight?
CharTweet: Usually I like to have 8- 10 weeks for a complete camp. that allows for both the training side of things and the proper weight cut.
SGS: Have you participated in other mixed martial arts events since your last fight?
CharTweet: No. I have a couple of BJJ tournaments I want to compete in this year, and would love to do my first Pro Muay Thai fight in 2014. But right now I have been 100% focused on MMA and strengthening my game.
SGS: Who do you look up too?
CharTweet: Nobody, I’m taller then everyone LOl
SGS: InvictaFC is preparing to announce their fight card on 10/11/2013 Friday? It seems that you don’t have a fight just as of yet? What are your thoughts on that?
CharTweet: I would be lying if I didn’t tell you I was a bit concerned. Like I said my camp has been in talks over the past few months, but as of today we still don’t have an offer on the table officially. We have been waiting by the phone the past few day lol. Everything happens for a reason, so I’m sure it will all work out, but anyone reading this, please feel free to put in a good word @InvictaFights…. I have never been more ready for a fight and can’t imagine having to wait another 4 months to get back in the cage. I’m ready now!! And want a fight on the Dec card as much as I have ever wanted a fight!!
SGS: What are thoughts on Women’s Mixed Martial Arts as of today?
CharTweet: WMMA is growing and changing so fast. It is exciting to see things develop and to be a part of it.
SGS: Have you picked up any new sponsors lately? And would like to shout out to all your sponsors now?
CharTweet: I love all my sponsors, they are so supportive… My newest sponsor is MisFit Industries … these guys rock please check them out!!
SGS: A shout out to all your fans, family and friends what would you like to say?
CharTweet: As always I must thank my family and my friends for supporting me in my goals. The time away from them during a fight camp is a sacrifice , but I believe we are a fight family and I think my friends thinks it’s cool that I fight 🙂 , and if not … I will beat them up lol .
