Joanna Jedrzejczyk to defend belt against Jessica Penne for first ever Women’s Title Fight in Europe
According to an article posted at UFC.com the main event between two male fighters was scrapped when one of the fighters became injured.
Now Joanna and Jessica will headline UFC Fight Night Berlin that goes down June 20th. According to UFC this will be the first time that a title fight will take place in Europe, outside of the UK and the first ever women’s title fight in Europe.
There will be some pressure on both fighters; Jessica is coming of a split decision win over Randa Markos and is 1-0 in the UFC and Joanna who handily defeated Carla Esparza to take the Strawweight title and is 3-0 in the UFC should have no problem with Jessica as Joanna will be the favorite coming into this fight. As we have seen so many times this year the underdog has won more than the favorite and this could happen again.
Jessica is no slouch either, she was the former Invicta Atomweight champion and took down Randa in the TUF 20 finale but that fight went to a decision which leads to believe that there are still some holes in her game and hopefully she fixed them to take on the champ.
We have seen lately that many of the fighters complain about decision fights and yes some fighters take the decision well, but some fighters hate how judges decide the fights, but you know what if you hate the way a decision goes find a way to win the fight before you leave it the judges hands or accept your fate.
This is Joanna’s first time defending her title against another good opponent as many fighter said before her, you are not really a champion till you defend your belt at least once, so this her chance to do that or could we have a new champion again in 2015?
Good luck to both fighters on their upcoming training camps and fight.
