Katja Kankaanpaa defends her title against Livia Souza at Invicta FC 12

According to ESPN.com Shannon Knapp revealed today that Invicta FC 12 will be April 24th instead of April 10th as previously scheduled.

This will be Katja’s first title defense against a unbeaten Souza. Katja got the title from Stephanie Eggink back Invicta FC 8 with a submission. The strawweight title was vacant when the UFC brought out contracts of the some of the top strawweights with Invicta.

Both fighters are not from the US and this will be the first time they meet each other in the cage. Both fighters have not fought since September of last year which shows that they will be pretty much even in that regard. Although this will be Souza’s promotional debut for Invicta as she has been fighting out of Brazil.

Katja has been with Invicta since 5 and is 2-1 with the promotion and has fought some of the best fighters in the world.
