One of the themes of the Cubs’ World Series championship team of a season ago was never quitting. So it was a bit of a surprise — or maybe just a sign of an offense trying to find its regular-season rhythm — that two late rallies Friday afternoon went for naught in the Cubs’ 4-2 loss to the Pirates at Wrigley Field.
