Chevelle Hallback and Noemi Bosques among boxers on “Thunder At The Forum” card Friday in Tampa
The Tampa Bay Times Forum and Panda 5 Star Productions have announced that Mike Sheppard will face previously announced China “The Dragon” Smith in THUNDER AT THE FORUM, a World Boxing Federation event, on Friday, June 13, at 7:45 p.m. During this 10-round main event for the North American WBF Heavyweight Title, Sarasota native Smith will meet face-to-face with West Virginia’s Sheppard who recently took on Antonio Tarver in a NABA title fight.
In a unique twist, the co-main event for THUNDER AT THE FORUM will be a female match-up between local favorite “Fists of Steel” Chevelle Hallback and Mississippi’s Cassandra Lindsey. Hallback was recognized on Ring Magazine’s Top Ten Women’s All Time Pound for Pound list and is considered one of the top eight female boxers of all time by the Female Boxing Hall of Fame.
“I’m pleased to give Hallback the opportunity to fight in her hometown for the first time in her professional career,” said THUNDER AT THE FORUM promoter Jie Chen. “Once the Tampa crowd sees Hallback in a fight, they will quickly understand why she’s one of the best female fighters in the country. Winning this bout will put her one step closer to a World Title fight.”
As a female professional boxing promoter, Chen felt it was important to also add an engaging female undercard match up with Orlando native Noemi Bosques. “Bosques is a wonderful young lady with a tremendous amount of talent. She’s excited to be a part of the undercard, and we’re happy to extend her the opportunity,” noted Chen of the latest addition. She will face Elizabeth Stevens of Salt Lake City, UT.
WMMA News wishes the best to both fighters in their respective bouts
