A week after Cubs senior vice president of player development and amateur scouting Jason McLeod said pitching was “going to be a focal point” in the MLB Draft — though he maintained they would still be looking for the biggest overall impact players — the Cubs followed through by drafting a pair of pitchers in the first round.
