The Cubs still joke with Ryan Dempster, the former Cubs pitcher turned front-office executive who waved his no-trade clause minutes before the non-waiver Trade Deadline in 2012 and agreed to a trade to the Rangers. That trade brought the Cubs Kyle Hendricks, whose brilliant performance helped them win Game 6 of the NLCS and advance to the World Series, where he’ll start Game 3 on Friday.
