Batting Kyle Schwarber seventh didn’t work on Friday, so Cubs manager Joe Maddon decided to try a new approach and insert him ninth Saturday. It worked. With the Cubs trailing the Cardinals, 3-1, in the seventh, Schwarber mashed his first career grand slam to give the Cubs a 5-3 lead. He was 5-for-60 before the big at-bat.
