Ratings Queens VanZant And Waterson Lead UFC To Three-Year Television High
Saturday’s UFC on FOX event headlined by Paige VanZant and Michelle Waterson led to the highest UFC television rating in almost three years.
According to Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting, VanZant vs. Waterson peaked at 4.8 million viewers, with the entire event averaging 3.2 million. These are the best UFC television ratings since Jan. 2014 when Benson Henderson fought Josh Thomson. Had VanZant vs. Waterson lasted more than one round, it is possible this show’s rating could have been higher.
Waterson submitted VanZant with a rear-naked choke in the first round of their fight. The event also featured Urijah Faber’s retirement fight against Brad Pickett. Faber won the fight by decision. The co-main event was a highly anticipated welterweight fight that saw Mickey Gall submit Sage Northcutt.
