According to an article by the Albuquerque Journal, Holly Holm manager Lenny Fresquez is quoted saying “They tell me Tate chose (Nunes),” Fresquez told the Journal on Thursday in a phone interview. “Holly was offered to her and she chose Nunes. She chose to take a weaker opponent.
“She’s not as stand-up as Holly. She said she’d take on the best, but she’s not willing to take on the best. Holly gave her a chance. We’re pretty disappointed she didn’t return the favor.”
According to Fresquez Holly will have to take a non-title fight or wait on who wins between Tate vs. Nunes.
It seems that Tate will not let Holly go for a title shot saying that she had her chance to defend the title and lost so that leaves for some fresh blood and that will be Amanda Nunes who is on a three-win fight streak and according to Tate “She’s got a lot of momentum and she’s really dangerous”.
Holly’s manager stressed that whoever steps up and fights her next better watch out. As we have seen in the past Holly is a great fighter especially in the standup game but she has to match that with some good ground defense or some type of ground game. It looked like that Holly only prepared to knockout a fighter which shows that Tate was prepared for by taking her the distance and then her great ground game to get the advantage.
Hopefully Holly will make some adjustments into her ground game and become the all-around fighter that will get her back in the contender’s spot to get the title back.
