Ukrainian fighter Lena “Hunter” Ovchynnikova has been a journeyman – or journeywoman – of combat sports, fighting all over the world. Now she’ll make her journey to the Bellator cage.

Ovchynnikova will take on Rebecca Ruth at Bellator 150, which, Feb. 26. The fight will air on main card televised on Spike TV.

Ovchynnikova (10-3 MMA, 0-0 Bellator) has a wealth of combat sports experience and for Bellator to have her is a great thing. Her MMA bout was in 2014 where she submitted Svetlana Gotsyk in the third round. The Hunter has had a rocky road as of late in terms of MMA tenure, going 2-3 in her last five outings. Despite being out of active competition, she’s continued to train in mixed martial arts and focus on her grappling.

Outside of MMA, she’s gone 3-1 in her last four professional kickboxing/Muay Thai bouts, even capturing the WBC Muay Thai women’s world flyweight title from Ruth Ashdown. In her last fight she defeated Patrizia Gibelli for the Boxxtomoi Muay Thai title.

Ovchynnikova’s Victor translator said Bellator approached her with a offer that includes an opportunity to compete in kickboxing fights under the promotion’s new “Bellator Kickboxing” banner.

“She can do MMA fights, she can also do kickboxing and Muay Thai,” Victor said. “It’s a good thing for her.”
