Tweet makes weight Barone six pounds over for fight

The Charmaine “Not So Sweet” Tweet vs Anna M. Barone bout has been moved to the Main Event Fight!! Barone will forfeit 20 percent of her purse for coming in at 161.4 pounds. According to sources at the event, there were two fighters that did not make weight from the Tristar camp, but according to sources all 5 Saskatchewan fighters made weight with no concerns.
This is not the first time a female fighter has encountered problems making weight for a fight. Cris Cyborg and Gina Carano have both had trouble with weight at one point or another in their careers; weight-cutting continues to be an issue with women’s mixed martial arts. The past year, female fighters are under more scrutiny from their peers as the women look to gain credibility in mainstream MMA. We should say missing weight is not exclusive to females, and earlier this month a Cage Warriors Card had several males miss weight which is very unusual on the male side of the sport.
Tweet did not hesitate in taking on the fight with Anna Barone even though Barone came in 6 lbs over. Tweet, like many other females who have been inactive because of delays with promotions, just wants to fight.
