According to their website, Equality California is the nation’s largest statewide lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization.
Nunes is the first openly gay fighter to win a UFC championship. She won the UFC title in July, at UFC 200, after she submitted Miesha Tate.
Nunes is scheduled to defend her title for the first time against former champion Ronda Rousey in the main event of UFC 207 on Dec. 30. UFC 207 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
