Jessica Aguilar (17-4) is one of the most dominating figures in WMMA today, arguably. She is the number 1 strawweight in the world at the current moment. Many know Aguilar from her many fights in Bellator, but she has recently been signed to World Series of Fighting (WSOF). In the year 2013, Aguilar had a spirited fight in Japan against Megumi Fujii at VTJ 3rd which she won by split decision., as well as a hard fought battle earlier in the year at Bellator 94 against Patricia Vidonic. Aguilar recently captured the WSOF inaugural strawweight title in a dominating fight against Newcomer, and formerly undefeated Alida Gray (4-1) in dominating fashion at WSOF8, which took place on January 18, 2014

Stephanie Eggink (4-1) has been paving her way in her own right through the Xtreme Fighting Championship (XFC) cage. Eggink recently became the xfc womens strawweight champion in a dynamic firefight against Angela Mangana which took place on September 06, 2013 and ended in dynamic fashion with “Snowflake” strapping a triangle which Mangana was unable to escape from. The year of 2013 was a great year for Eggink. On april 19th,Eggink had an inspirational bout with standout Brianna Van buren, where she had to use all of the tools in her deep bag of tricks to get a unanimous decision. A real slobberknocker. Eggink has rapidly improved, and is currently unopposed in the XFC.

Both of these athletes are in their physical prime, and it would be a very interesting match-up. Aguilar is a proud product of American Top Team, and has been so for many years. Eggink is a former member of the USA boxing team and represented the United States in the Pan American Games in Brazil. Eggink currently trains out of the next Edge fitness academy (112 W 39th St. Sioux Falls, SD 57105).

This fight has all the makings of a classic barnburner.Title vs. Title. Two athletes who are known to leave it all in the cage. UFC recently signed 4 of the top 10 fighters in the strawweight division, which leaves the rest of the division on hold, of sorts. The women will be taking part in the 20th Season of the Ultimate Fighter. For the women not on this show, it would be slightly harder to get a ranked matchup like this because of the show. Of sorts, because time never waits, and these young women, these athletes, these warriors will not stop. The reason the UFC took notice of this Great weight class is because of the excitement that every fight presents

WSOF also realizes the excitement that the strawweight division produces. Stephanie Eggink would be a great addition to the already Great roster of WSOF. Aguilar is ranked number one in the world, and there is not another strawweight in the Entire World who can say that. Aguilar is a fighting champion. She does not like to sit on the shelf, she improves her game every single day. A constant professional.

If this fight happens, Eggink would have to vacate her Strawweight Belt, but it would be for a worthy cause. This increase in talent would only prove beneficial for this young womans career, win or loss. The talent pool and exposure for an athlete of Eggink’s character could only produce positivity in several different ways.

There were many other potential names that could have been used. Most are signed to UFC, Invicta, and overseas promotions. This matchup is a home based, talented, beneficial matchup for all involved. These two strawweights have beaten many of the top ranked women, so it could be seen as a collision course. It makes perfect sense to put a fight like this together. Its been called youth versus experience by few. Champion versus champion by others.

It would be a very wise idea if this dream matchup came into fruition
