Two of the best fighters from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan won this week by way of submission. Charmaine Tweet prevailed by rear naked choke, and Mitch Clarke  succeeded with a brabo choke.

Charmaine Tweet won her first fight for 2014 against a heavier fighter Anna Barone, who came in six pounds over for their 155-pound lightweight match at Wednesday Night Fights 2. According to Tweet’s camp, there were some harsh words exchanged before the fight, and even right before the fight began inside the cage. Tensions were running high.

Anna did indeed look the heavier fighter once the bout began. Tweet started out with a patient game plan, consistently attacking with punches and leg kicks through the initial portions of the round. As time transpired, Tweet performed an impressive leg sweep that brought Barone to the mat. Tweet landed some ground and pound then transitioned to her back to sink the rear naked choke.

Charmaine Tweet told WMMA News she hopes this victory is just the first of several for the year. She is looking to fight Veronica Rothenhausler who has been called out by Tweet’s camp in the past via social media war. Both camps have been wanting Invicta FC  to put this fight together since their last card in December, 2013.

Mitch Clarke has won his last two fights, the most recent a UFC victory over Al Iaquinta by Technical Submission (Brabo Choke) 0:57 Rd 2 in the Lightweight Division. This was a big victory for Mitch since losing his first two UFC fights. All of his UFC fights came with Clarke being the underdog.

Going into the UFC Mitch was undefeated until those 2 losses, so with these last two wins he looks to reestablish a position in consideration for main-card status. Good luck to Mitch.
