Shelito “Shelito’s Way” Vincent is a fighter. She grew up on the streets of New London, Connecticut where she found herself having to fight for respect, attention, and to protect herself. She fought through a tough childhood that was filled with pain, abuse, violence and tragedy; her young mother was diagnosed with and soon succumbed to leukemia. The pain and sadness of losing her mother as a young teen exacerbated the challenges of living every day life. Her desperation eventually brought trouble with the law on several occasions, as well as debilitating depression and alcohol abuse.

At the age of eighteen, Shelito found boxing, and with that, a renewed purpose. She began to train, focusing now on positive goals; health, success, and becoming a role model to the kids in her city.

Shelito enjoyed success as an amateur boxer, winning several State and National titles and belts. Her amateur record is 11-4, culminating in a National Golden Gloves Championship win in 2011.

On October 7, 2011, at the Twin River Event Center, in Lincoln, Rhode Island, Shellito, 121½, made her professional debut winning a four-round unanimous decision over Karen Dulin, 124.

Since that time, she has amassed a 10-0 record with her most recent victory over Alisah McPhee on November 2, 2013, ending by Knockout. Shelito is currently the #2 ranked Super Bantamweight in the United States and #10 in the World.

Shelito is active in her community; she volunteers for the Special Olympics, children’s reading programs, and has always worked to raise money and lend a hand for various cancer-research fundraisers.

She is also involved with the WBC-World Boxing Cares, an affiliate of World Champions Against Bullying, and the Non-Violence Project. Shelito has received a proclamation from the Mayor of New London, Connecticut, and has spoken at the city’s Hope Week Conference on Effective Leadership. This engagement inspired the public’s donation of tickets to underprivileged 8th graders so that they could witness her hard work and determination first hand.

Shelito’s personality is effervescent, complete with an infectious smile and quick laugh. She is immensely popular, winning people over within minutes of meeting her. She enjoys a large and animated fan base, often selling-out her shows to enthusiastic crowds. She loves working with children, and vice-versa; they immediately sense her warm, genuine heart. Shelito Vincent is proud of her Italian and Cape-Verdean heritage. She embodies strength, determination, perseverance, stamina, and has the heart of a true warrior; she will always fight-and win; inside or outside of the ring.
