Jedrzejczyk’s manager Tiago Okamura confirmed with MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani that she had suffered a broken right hand and will need surgery to patch it up.
During her match against Valerie she had 227 strikes in the 5 round match with does take a toll on your hands as this fight was a punch fest and Val took some punishment but survived all rounds with a good chin on her.
Joanna is prone to breaking her hand or finger as she did against Jessica Penne earlier this year in a title defense makes you wonder would it be better for Joanna to finish a fight early instead of letting it go the distance?
There is no timetable of when Joanna will be back for another title defense it is sure likely she will be out sometime which could cause some anxious fighters wanting a title shot sooner than later.
